During its time, the HTC brand was synonymous with Android mobile phones. Some of the best models in the early years of the platform came from HTC, and this brand was also chosen by Google to demonstrate what it was capable of, with the HTC Dream, the first Android mobile in history.
The Android mobile market has changed a lot since then. Samsung is the undisputed leader, and Chinese manufacturers such as Xiaomi and OPPO are vying for the rest of the leading positions. The brand that is not there, and which is not expected, is HTC, which has disappeared from sales lists for years.
However, this doesn’t mean that HTC has ceased to exist; In recent years, it has focused on emerging sectors such as virtual reality and blockchain, and every now and then it has launched a mobile phone to remind people that it is still alive. In the case of this year, this mobile is the HTC U24 Pro
The HTC U24 Pro is based on a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor, accompanied by 12 GB of RAM; This is one of the best chips in its lineup, so it should live up to the user’s needs. The screen also stands out, with a 6.8-inch OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate and FullHD+ resolution.
HTC’s bet on this occasion seems to be to offer a premium experience without having to spend so much; This is the reason why the edges of the screen are curved, for example, but this is not the only detail most typical of an expensive cell phone that we find. HTC has focused on a simple but elegant design, in which the set of cameras takes up no more space than necessary and reminds us of cell phones from a few generations ago.
This way, more free space is left on the back to display the chosen Space Blue and Twilight White colors, which have a matte texture which will avoid the big problem of fingerprints in addition to promoting adhesion. The edges are made of metal with a treatment that promotes durability and a photolithography effect that gives a highly refractive surface. To this we must add that the device has IP67 certification for resistance to water and dust.
The camera assembly consists of a 50 MP main sensor with an f/1.88 OIS aperture, accompanied by an 8 MP wide-angle and a 50 MP telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. Highlights the front camera, which also has a resolution of 50 Mpx and has autofocus. Without seeing the results, on paper it is a powerful configuration, even in the mid-range. Rounding out the “hardware” is a 4,600mAh battery with 60W support, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse charging.
Oddly, HTC included two details more typical of one of its classic phones than of a modern phone: a 3.5mm jack connector for headphones, and a notification LED on the front which lights up in two colors to warn us.
The HTC U24 Pro was announced for Europe with a price of 564 dollarsalthough the date of arrival in Europe, if there is one, has not been confirmed.
