Payday 3 was a bit of a flop, but Starbreeze isn’t giving up yet. The second major expansion, “Boys in Blue,” is now in the starting blocks.
With “Boys in Blue”, the criticized and flopped heist shooter Payday 3 is getting its second major DLC expansion. This will be released in the current month of June and is intended to help the title turn things around and encourage players to switch from Payday 2 to the newer part.
Starbreeze and Deep Silver will release the new add-on on June 27th. It will pick up directly after the events in “Chapter 1: Syntax Error”. The gang is planning a robbery at a police station.
The expansion, which is included for owners of the Silver Edition, Gold Edition and Gold Pass, includes a total of three individual packages. The Heist Pack includes the actual heist “Chapter 2: Boys in Blue”, the Weapon Pack brings 3 new weapons, 26 mods and 2 cosmetic items and the Tailor Pack includes 4 new masks, 4 new suits and 4 new gloves.
The DLC is accompanied by a large free update that will be available to all players regardless of the additional content. This includes the following new features:
-
Solo Mode Beta (on all platforms)
-
New Heisterin Clover, originally introduced into the Payday series in 2014, including a pistol and a weapon pendant
-
New primary weapon – LMG
-
Renaming the loadout
-
3 new masks
-
12 new flag stickers
-
Nvidia DLSS 3.0 Ready, offers a big per formance boost for anyone with a current Nvidia graphics card
-
Twitch-Drops
Above all, the solo mode should please fans of the Payday series and probably make the current part more socially acceptable. Starbreeze cannot help but emphasize that this mode, which is initially available in the beta, is not least due to the feedback from the community.
In this beta, the parts of the game that were previously hosted on the Payday servers will now be hosted on players’ devices. This means that players will still need to log in and have access to the internet, but only for initial identification and launch. This is just the first step towards supporting a full offline option in the future.
