Our small team had produced around 10 prototypes before we finally developed the current version of the project. First, I dug up my old doodle-style works that the team thought were cool, so I had an idea how to incorporate them into the gameplay. It soon turned out that implementing such a simple idea might require more effort than we can imagine, but every time we encountered another danger someone always appeared ready to help us, and sometimes didn’t even ask for something in return. Later we tried to translate this kindness and good nature into the game and to turn our stories into learning opportunities.
This project was also my debut as a screenwriter. Working on My hidden things was a really eye opening experience that revealed so many things about me. It also helped me realize something important: don’t doubt yourself for a second, no matter how clichéd it sounds. You know how it is – you bury yourself in a routine job, nothing seems to be going your direction, your personal mistakes are disproportionate, while your successes all seem so small and insignificant. I remember things were completely mixed up back then, so at some point I decided to turn a new page: I quit a good job, said goodbye to my parents, gave up my pets and escaped, warned the wind to go to a completely different country , in which I hardly knew anyone.
After working in a different but closely related field for five years, I finally gathered my courage and decided that was it. Time to do something for me By then I had already found out that miracles do not exist. I don’t think there were, at least in my life. So I figured it was all up to me and I had to do what I had to do to turn my luck around. And voila 🙂
Thanks to our producer Konstantin Semenov, it actually worked. While I was writing the script, I really learned a lot from the ground up and had to work fast too. After all, game development cannot be clearly defined. Games bring a bit of magic to our boring life. Working on a game script is both challenging and rewarding. The project literally turned my life upside down (yes, you heard me right) and now I finally feel in my element. Even the most bizarre ideas are not lost here. They are accumulated, processed, and then turned into something that every player can relate to.
