You can finally play Disco Elysium in German translation. If you had problems with the English texts before, you should definitely take another look at the RPG masterpiece.
If you haven’t touched Disco Elysium because of the purely English-language localization, you should definitely grab it now. As of today, the RPG milestone is translated into German. The voice output will remain in English for the time being.
Since yesterday evening you can download the translation for Disco Elysium on Steam and GOG.com. For some players the update does not start automatically, so you may have to lend a hand manually. In the game you can then easily switch between the languages by clicking Q or E presses. This is particularly helpful if you want to play in English but you are missing vocabulary in some places. If you want to activate the translation permanently, you can do so in the game options.
Seldom has it been so important to understand texts in English as in Disco Elysium. The entire game focus is on dialogues, which are sometimes very complex. If you don’t understand the characters’ conversations and thoughts, you not only miss important story decisions, but also the dense atmosphere of the game. The German translation seems to have been more than successful so far and thus also opens the gates of the grandiose thriller to less experienced English speakers. In any case, you now have one more reason to take a look at Disco Elysium.
