One of the most notorious problems of Spellbreak is his matchmaking, which lately causes it to be very difficult to match users with players from the same region.

Well, given the criticism received from the community, the director of the title, Cardell Kerr, has given an interview to the medium GamesBeat in which it has ruled on the matter. We leave you his statements translated into Spanish below:

It is fascinating. We have fewer players now than when we launched the game, and there are many reasons for that. One of the biggest problems we run into: our matchmaking process is not the most robust. When we released it, it was good enough, and we thought it would be good; but it turns out it’s a bit fractured. By virtue of that, if a person ends up in an empty hall, it is not because they are not going to play. It’s because we’ve put them in a cube, and that cube is not prescriptive for what would be a good experience for the player. I’ve been a pretty staunch advocate internally for quite some time that there are two things I don’t want to make any worse: frame rate and time to find players. Everything else can be changed, but you never want the frame rate to get worse, because you never want your game to feel slow or unresponsive, and you never want it to take longer to find a game. As a result, part of our drive right now is to redo our matchmaking system so people can be guaranteed to find a match quickly. It is a very valid complaint. It’s one of those things that hits people who go for a restricted lobby, just want to pair up with Switch or PS4 players, or on the contrary, play in a low-population area. Let’s say you are playing Switch in Brazil as there are not too many Switches in Brazil, for example. It may be that in these types of situations is where you have problems. That’s where it mainly affects the players. All our efforts right now are put into working to fix it.

Finally, we invite you to take a look at the original interview (in English), which you can access from here.
