How Fast Are Intel’s Upcoming Rocket Lake Processors? A new entry in the Geekbench database gives vague clues. Accordingly, the Core i7 11700K is faster than the current Ryzen processors in terms of single-core performance and is almost equal to the Comet Lake S flagship Core i9 10900K in terms of multi-core performance.

What do the new benchmarks say about the Core i7 11700K?

Single-Core-Performance: The i7 11700K comes up with one in Geekbench Single-Core-Score of 1,807 points. This places it in front of the current leader Ryzen 9 5950X, which scores 1,672 points – that is an increase of around eight percent. Compared to the Core i9 10900K (1,405 points) it is even around 28 percent.

Multi-Core-Performance: In the Multi-core rating The i7 11700K achieves 10,673 points and is just behind the i9 10900K (10,967 points). The latter, however, is equipped with two cores and accordingly four more threads.

A comparable Ryzen processor is the Ryzen 7 5800X with eight cores and sixteen threads, which scores 10,361 points. The Core i7 11700K can also take the lead here – by around three percent.

As expected, Intel’s upcoming eight-core cannot keep up with the Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X (13,897 and 16,515 points) due to the significantly lower number of cores.

Nevertheless, the data on the Core i7 11700K that has now emerged give first indications of the performance potential of Rocket Lake. Rumors that the processors announced for March could bring Intel back to the top in terms of single-core performance and oust AMD have been around for a long time.
