Despite criticism and complaints against Cyberpunk 2077, CD Projekt Red’s latest addition is a commercial success. With more than 13 million sales since its inception, net of refunds, the game marks the best start in the studio’s history. And while the experience is marred by serious technical flaws on Xbox One and PS4, there is no shortage of narrative and conceptual qualities. Which should definitely seduce many players who do not hesitate to welcome their trip to NightCity and who will therefore be delighted with the imminent arrival of free DLC!
New stories at NightCity
We already knew that Cyberpunk 2077 would host additional content once it was released. However, we had no information about a possible exit window. In fact, with the development teams being particularly focused and busy fixing the game on Xbox One and PS4, we thought we’d have to wait a few months before hoping to spot these DLCs. However, according to the Cyberpunk 2077 official website, it should finally happen in the first half of 2021.
Regarding “DLC rain”, CD Projekt Red clearly implies that several additional pieces of content will be released shortly. These should essentially be narrative and therefore solo oriented. Will they allow us to deepen our knowledge of certain characters and their story, especially that of Johnny Silverhand? We’ll have to wait a little longer to find out!
A busy year 2021 for Cyberpunk 2077
At the same time, keep in mind that CD Projekt Red is also working on an extensive and ambitious multiplayer mode for Cyberpunk 2077. This could arrive at the end of 2021 and is internally viewed as full production. In 2021 the optimizations of the next generation of the title will also come. Cyberpunk 2077 is currently only playable on Xbox Series X and S via backward compatibility and will be further refined when updated to take advantage of the features.
The coming year promises to be particularly busy for the Polish studio. The work promises to be important, especially with two major patches planned for January and February. It will likely be necessary to wait for their deployment to hope for the first DLC to arrive. One thing is already certain, however: V’s adventures will keep us going for many months to come.
