Digitimes has revealed the first sales figures for PlayStation 5. According to a paid article, Sony would have distributed 3.4 million PS5s in its first four weeks, a record for PlayStation. Through 2021 they expect an increase in production and, throughout the year, PS5 could reach between 16.8 and 18 million units. PS5 was launched in the United States on November 12, and in Spain – and the rest of Europe – on November 19.
Digitimes reports Sony shipped 3.4 mn PS5 in its first 4 weeks, highest ever for a PS.
They also say 2021 will see 16.8-18mn PS5 shipped after a supply stream ramp-up, with more units reserved for Asia from January.

From January there will be more consoles reserved for Asia and David Gibson comments on the article that, although Digitimes is not always reliable, only 220,000 consoles of the 3.4 million would have arrived in Japan, something that explains the difficulty to get one of these PS5 in the country.

We remember that in Spain it sold 43,000 units in its first week, all with reservation or online purchase, 2,300 in its second week and some 18,000 units in the second shipment in December. Right now there are no units to buy in our country, something due to the high demand for the new console, stock in stores running out in a matter of minutes.
