A light of life among the shadows of death
Let’s go with what will surely be the last analysis of the year. Honor is given to the developer Hyper games and distributor Aspyr Media which offer us a very unique puzzle game, Morkredd. A title where our shadow, that of our partner and those of our own environment will be deadly. Only the light and the coordination between the characters will make you reach the end and thus discover the mystery of the orb. From now on I tell you that you can play with your player2 or alone in that case, I assure you it will be an even greater challenge.
You on the right and me on the left
Since the beginning of Morkredd the story is kind of what your imagination decides, because it lacks narrative. Two characters who seek to come out of the shadows, to give light to their whole world…. well, a bit like that. But as we go in the game we will find out how our perspective changes and becomes something unthinkable full of surprises. The two characters in this story will have to guide an orb through unsuspected places by solving puzzles. Always very careful do not step on a shadow in the environment or even cover the partner you are generating yourself with, either of these two options will be fatal. Our worst enemy will not be coordinated, although we will also find other henchmen who will have the same fear of the dark as you.
“I know that playing with the company is always better” but… I decided to play Morkredd alone, managing our protagonists at the same time. As in Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons, the controller is split in two. While handling it is not as complex as in the example, there will be times when you won’t know which trigger to press or just your shadows will intersect. A tip: bring the orb as close as possible to the puzzles, this way you won’t be surprised. Squeeze levers, chop logs, move obstacles, and even cover your partner with a fence so the storm doesn’t take him and the orb away. One little thing I can’t forget. Along the way we will find “plants” that will try to take the light from us, the only thing that will save us is to run to the checkpoint. Didn’t I tell you? Every time we solve a puzzle we will have a checkpoint drawn on the ground. Attention, they take the orb from us !!
Lights and shadows
In the Morkredd’s early moments, his graphics will be full of edges but as we progress (we speak when we reach more or less 60% of the game), the definition in details will become more plausible. It will be then that our environment takes shape and that we can see what it seems to be, the ruins of a city or the bowels of a “gigantic octopus”. All this with the chromatic scale of black and white although at one point we can see a bright blue that will dazzle us with its intensity. Equally intense and penetrating will be the soundtrack, which accompanies us in every movement, changing its melody to the rhythm of the situations we will be confronted with.
Conclusions
Morkredd It was a very entertaining game that I intend to re-enjoy this time with my player2. An experience that offers a constant challenge, both for its puzzles and for the precision and coordination you must have in all your movements. At times, if at all, you realize the need to have your partner’s help, if only to push the orb. It is a game which for me falls into the category of “ageless”, since everyone can enjoy its puzzles.
Hope you enjoy both Morkredd how i enjoyed it and more knowing that you have it in Game Pass from the day of its launch. While we are waiting for you on our website. You will find news, press releases, opinion pieces, analyzes and our podcast. Enjoy video games and … See you live!

Advantages
- The environment that surrounds us added to its soundtrack makes it unique.
- The variety of puzzles will not tire you and you just want to find out the outcome of this story.
The inconvenients
- Lacking a narrative means you’re not quite sure what you’re doing or where you need to go, but that’s also its charm.
- It has a small flaw when it comes to directing your shadow over an obstacle. I have to say that this case has only happened once in the whole game.
