The Control Center Network Panel can help you troubleshoot connection issues with weak Wi-Fi due to its temporary nature. There may be a place in your house where your iPhone or iPad says it can still connect to your Wi-Fi network, but it actually offers little to no direct coverage.
This can also happen when connecting to a very congested public network, or you can just connect to the 20-50 Mbps 4G LTE network when the Wi-Fi is much slower.
In ‘Settings’>’ Wi-Fi ‘you have the option to turn off Wi-Fi, which also turns off Wi-Fi waves. But if you swipe up to bring up the control center and tap’ Wi -Fi ”, and the blue icon turns white, it is not disabled, but in temporary disconnect mode which only affects the configuration of the network you are using.
(The icon is white with a dark gray background when the “ Settings ” Wi-Fi switch is off, and it will not work in this mode because Wi-Fi is not on anyway.)
When you tap the Wi-Fi icon in Control Center with Wi-Fi enabled, iOS or iPadOS does the following:
- It disconnects from the network you are connected to. It works based on the name of the network, so all access points in that network will be disconnected because they have the same name.
- It makes sure it doesn’t reconnect if you are out of range of the network, and then that you get close enough to reconnect.
- Remove this network at 5:00 a.m. local time from your reconnect list.
The message that appears on the control center says something like: “Disconnect from nearby Wi-Fi until tomorrow”, which isn’t very descriptive, but it’s not entirely wrong either. .
You can find out if the current network is excluded by using the Control Center. The wifi icon will appear in black on a white circular background if it is. Hold down the panel and “Not Connected” will appear under the wifi icon.
To use the network again, tap the Wi-Fi icon and your device will reconnect. The network will be removed from the temporary list.
Obviously, if you’re really having trouble with a network and never want it to connect to it, you should connect to it first. Then tap the ‘i’ on the right side in ‘Settings’> ‘Wi-Fi’ and select the option so that it won’t remember it and confirm.
