Games are art: Even if our favorite medium still has to fight for recognition as an art, there are enough games that impressively prove this. Seasons After Fall is one such game: In this puzzle platformer you maneuver a fox through the hand-drawn 2D levels and use his ability to manipulate the seasons to solve puzzles.
The fox in the forest: The story of the game is not particularly complex or comes with shocking twists, but is told in an exciting way (also in Europe) and is suitable for all ages. As an enchanted fox you have set out to find the four lost spirits of the seasons. The game renounces violence, you cannot die either. Nevertheless, it is not unpretentious: The puzzles are demanding enough that you have to strain your gray matter.
Creative puzzles: You will spend most of the game solving puzzles. There are also jump passages, but these are never particularly difficult or require quick reflexes. With the ability to change seasons you manipulate the plants and waters of the forest. If a large plant has dried up, a change to spring brings a heavy downpour, which allows the plant to grow and thus gives you access to the next area.
Very good but not perfect: Seasons After Fall convinces with its fairytale look, relaxed gameplay and the incredibly good speakers. For puzzle professionals, the game is probably a bit too easy in places. In the test, colleague Penzhorn gave a convincing score of 81.
