Phil Spencer is looking forward to things to come in the next 3 to 10 years.
In the past Podcast with Larry Hryb aka Major Nelson, Phil Spencer announced that he is already looking forward to things to come in the next 3 to 10 years.
He did not mention exactly what things would be, but he was still full of anticipation.
He sees what is coming next year as “Horizon 0”, while things that are two to three years in the future as “Horizon 1”. Finally, there is “Horizon 2”, which represents things that may come in three to ten years. Most of them won’t work, but some will. Backward Compatibility
“There are some things I’m incredibly excited about and hopefully we can talk about in the next year or two. What are the two investments we will make over the next three to ten years that will excite people as much as xCloud and Game Pass are doing today? Because that’s our job. Our job at running Xbox is to be in the moment and think about the roadmap, but also to experiment with some things that have the potential to make real change, but that also involve risks and technology. Again, there are some cool things to see on the horizon. It’s just an incredibly exciting time for the teams right now. “
There are a few things he’s “incredibly excited about” that will be discussed for the next year or two. According to Spencer, these could inspire people as much as xCloud or Game Pass do today. The team is currently thinking about things that have the potential to be real Game changer to be, but are also risky.
Spencer prides itself on the team’s ability to take some longer-term risks that can really make the difference.
