Hollow Knight: Silksong – Trailer for the sequel shows new heroine Hornet

Hollow Knight has long established itself as a cult Metroidvania. The game about a little beetle warrior sold over a million times in the first 18 months after its release – on the PC alone. The successful mixture of Metroidvania and a level of difficulty similar to Souls brought Hollow Knight a loyal fan base, who now have high hopes for the successor Silksong.

In an interview with the Edge-Magazin the developers revealed how the new character affects the level design and why the fights become even more demanding.

More acrobatics and more demands in the sequel

In Hollow Knight: Silksong you play a new character, namely the Kriegerprinzessin Hornet. It is quite a bit larger than its predecessor, which in turn affects its movements and the structure of the new caves. Co-Director Ari Gibson explains it this way:

“Hornet can travel so much farther, she can jump higher, she can push herself up or climb up edges, she is generally more acrobatic. So the caves around her have to be widened to accommodate their height.”

Specifically, that should mean that the levels are bigger and offer more climbing challenges so that Hornet can appropriately display their special abilities. Their acrobatics and elegance should also be reflected in the fights.

In Hollow Knight: Silksong you will face new bosses. Hornet is said to be more agile than its predecessor.

Speaking of fights: They were the biggest and at the same time crisp highlight in Hollow Knight. And the second part should go a step further, says Co-Director William Pellen and talks a little about the new types of opponents:

“The characters in this game, they’re sort of a step further[als im ersten Spiel], so it wouldn’t feel right if they were so simple. For example, they have surprising opportunities to hunt you down, keep up with you, or dodge your attacks. “

As in Hollow Knight, you have the choice between different needles that serve as weapons in Silksong. Hornet can also craft and set up traps. You will probably need such tricks urgently, because in future your enemies will no longer be lured to their deaths simply over edges.

An exact release date for Hollow Knight: Silksong is not yet known, we hope for 2021. On Steam you can already add it to your wish list, but the price has not yet been set.
