Sony seems to live by the phrase “new year, new life”, after initiating the slow but steady withdrawal of the PlayStation 4 from its production network.
Sources from Japan, like Gamestalk, have made it official that the company ordered the suspension of a series of specific models of PlayStation 4, ending with one of the useful life parts of its former main console.
This news was released thanks to the stores that received a statement from Sony, announcing the list of models that will no longer be available. Leaving the collectors who did not have them depending on the pieces already created.
“Dear customers: due to the manufacturer ending production, the following products will not be restocked.”

The production and distribution of PlayStation consoles seems to go on scales for the different territories of the world. While in the West the PS4 Pro and PS4 Slim are still parts of sustained distribution, in Japan the story is different.
Since the official announcement of PlayStation 5 and the start of its sale and distribution, Sony has focused the domestic market on establishing a sustained position for its new system, accelerating the suspension of the sale of consoles of the past generation.
The only edition that remains on the official Sony website and in stores authorized to be ordered as new is the PS4 500GB Jet Black, which is not on the cancellation list.
Similarly, the status of the special editions of various games that were created over time is unknown. Versions such as Ghost of Tsushima or Death Stranding remain on the market as special collectible items, with no mention of their suspension.
It seems that we are facing one of the decisive steps of the inevitable end of the generational march of PlayStation 4, with six years of active life and being the console that set the standard within the industry for most of the past decade.
