After the PlayStation 4 Pro, Sony is retiring further models of the last-gen console. If you want to switch to the new generation of consoles, you still face delivery problems.
After production of the PlayStation 4 Pro has already been discontinued, Sony is now pulling the plug on other console models. As a large Japanese retailer reported to its customers, older models are primarily affected – but no further Pro console is to be produced either. An official position from Sony is currently a long time coming.
Like the colleagues from VGC report, the discontinued consoles include the PS4 500GB Glacier White, PS4 1TB Jet Black, PS4 1TB Glacier White, PS4 2TB Jet Black and the PS4 Pro 1TB Glacier White. A Japanese shop had warned its consumers that the consoles are no longer available because “the manufacturer has stopped production,” like a resourceful one Twitter users could translate.
“Dear customers: due to the manufacturer ending production, the following products will not be restocked.”

The message fits seamlessly into the previous picture of the declining generation of consoles, because Sony recently announced that it would no longer deliver the PS4 Pro (for the report: PlayStation 4 Pro: Sony stops production of the console). However, the statement was subsequently removed from the shop.
At the moment it is a real nightmare to get hold of one of the out of print PlayStation 5 consoles. Scalpers and botters often pick up the few available models and then sell them on at moon prices. So if you want to make up your mind to catch up on the last gen and maybe get a bargain, you should hurry up – before Sony also discontinues production of the remaining models.
