RIP.

You have less than 20 days to play Gearbox’s often forgotten team shooter Battlefield.

According to an updated blog post on the publisher’s 2K website, Battleborn will go offline on January 25, when the game will no longer be available. Yes, once the server goes down, you can’t even execute a single player game.

Prior to this, 2K removed the game from the store in November 2019, and has the ability to end the purchase of premium platinum currency in February 2020.

Of course, Battleborn was released in May 2016, and although the initial sales looked promising-“before the release of Borderlands,” the number of users for the title dropped sharply in the following months. Part of the reason may be that Blizzard launched a similar Overwatch a few weeks later.

Soon after its release, Aaron Linde, the lead writer of Battleborn, left the project.

In June 2017, “Battlefield” was launched for free, but this did not help its PC platform Steam increase in number. By September of that year, Gearbox announced that it would no longer plan to add more content to the game, because the team will work on “Borderland 3”.

Since then, Gearbox has always said that Battleborn’s performance gave it a different view on the next project, Borderlands 3 in 2019, and ultimately made it a better game.
