With the next patch for Destiny 2, Dragonfly will be removed from all Cold Front weapons to prevent incorrect weapon interactions.
Reported in December 2020 Reddit user dead_is_death about a glitch with the Cold Front weapon and its Dragonfly perk in Destiny 2. Although the Cold Front submachine gun is a kinetic weapon, it still works with the Dragonfly perk. In other words, Cold Front can drop players equipped with the Dragonfly perk, causing an elemental explosion when killed, even though kinetic weapons have no associated element.
That caused some issues that ultimately led Bungie to remove this perk in an upcoming patch. Bungie’s Assistant Director for Destiny 2, Joe Blackburn announced this on Twitter to explain the decision:
“Wanted to give a quick update on Coldfront. The Dragonfly perk was not designed for use with kinetic weapons and causes some technical errors. For this reason, all cold fronts with the Dragonfly perk will be replaced by the Swashbuckler perk in an upcoming patch. “
Swashbuckler is a legendary ability that causes the weapon it is equipped on to take increased damage from melee kills and kills with the weapon.
