In a streaming event, developer Riot Games recently commented on the future of Legends of Runeterra and communicated the plans for the new year 2021.
Accordingly, the creators want to concentrate in the new year on improving the approach to the champions and adding additional social functions to Legends of Runeterra. At the same time, however, new regions are to be introduced.
The next region will therefore be the splendid and ancient land of Shurima. There you will explore the rich history and the exciting future in the course of three expansions. At the same time new game mechanics are added and buried relics can be searched for.

As for the champions, they should be expanded to include new possibilities. This also means that there should be more frequent releases of new champions anyway. Here, too, it is already certain that Aphelios will make the start – in the coming month of February.
Last but not least, Riot Games also has more options on its screen to enjoy Legends of Runeterra with your friends. Therefore, the first cooperative lab starts on January 13th. Another focus should be on competitions; the starting shot for the next seasonal tournament will be given at the end of February.
