With the Xbox Series X and Series S released, now we’re looking to the future. This promises to be particularly brilliant on Xbox, especially thanks to the many studio acquisitions Microsoft has made over the past few years. And if we probably have to wait another year to play the next Playground Games productions, Turn 10, Obsidian, or even Arkane, 2021 still promises to be pretty rich from a video game standpoint. .
With exclusive indie games, AAA that works, or even simulation and horror, the Xbox game catalog is already looking great in 2021. So we will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the American brand and see the return of the Master Chief. The latter is also one of our greatest expectations, which we present to you here. Feel free to share yours in the comments!
Our video pick of the most anticipated games on Xbox in 2021
12 minutes
12 minutes that were presented to the public at E3 2019 made an immediate impression. With its unique aesthetic and original proposal, this interactive thriller is THE editorial team’s most anticipated game. Here, you’ll dive into a time warp to understand why you and your wife were brutally murdered and how to escape this tragic ending. An experience we look forward to living as playful and narrative potential seems great to us!
Halo Infinite
The new episode of Halo is expected to coincide with the launch of the Xbox X and S series in November 2020 and benefit from an additional year of development. This new entry in the legendary Microsoft saga is therefore celebrating the 20th anniversary of the license with a great game. 343 Industries has definitely put all odds on its side by developing an engine for this new adventure and investing in the production of the title like never before. See you in late 2021 for a reunion with Master Chief that will be unforgettable.
tunic
The long-awaited tunic should finally show the end of its snout in 2021! The cutest fox in the video game offers us an adventure halfway between exploration, puzzle solving and boss fights, all in a soft and colorful universe. But make no mistake, the title won’t be a breeze as Andrew Shouldice is looking for gameplay ideas on the Bloodborne side for the clashes or Myst for the puzzles alongside The Legend of Zelda. It remains to be seen whether the tunic lives up to its illustrious inspirations!
Flight sim
The graphic hit of 2020 is to be handed over to the French by Asobo Studio. Indeed, the teams did a titanic and oh-so-impressive job of delivering the most realistic pilot simulation ever made last August. Microsoft Flight Simulator is therefore already available on PC and will land on Xbox Series X and Series S in summer 2021. It already promises to unlock the full potential of the brand’s latest consoles. The icing on the cake? The title will of course be available in Xbox Game Pass on the first day
Resident Evil Village
After two remakes, Capcom has finally decided to offer us something new for its legendary survival horror series. With this eighth work called Village, the Japanese developers are following in the footsteps of Resident Evil VII. The first person view will be renewed and Ethan will once again be the hero of this new adventure that takes place a few years after the events of the seventh episode. However, it is clearly not for pleasure that Ethan plunges into horror again as it is a certain Chris Redfield who is going to drag us into a nightmare. Monsters, werewolves and other occult sciences should make this Resident Evil Village surprising to say the least!
Stalker 2
The first stalker, a post-apocalytic solo FPS, impressed with his disappointed and violent immersion in a post-Chernobyl Ukraine. The region has become a huge no man’s land, where invisible death reigns. Looters, the stalkers, no longer hesitate to go there to seek their fortune despite the mutants and the radiation … even if it means making the guns speak and discovering the less glorious secrets of the motherland. With the announcement of a second episode, GSC Game World has revived the fantasy of entering this area left to its sad fate, walking in ghost towns and why not with friends. Especially since the Metro license is already there and the resolutely mature, tough and uncompromising vision of the future Slavic version has found its audience all over the world. Just like the Geiger counter, our impatience panics at the mention of STALKER 2.
The medium
The Medium, the first real Xbox Series X and Series S exclusive, will be released in late January. The point here is to navigate between the real world and the spirit world at the same time in order to solve various puzzles in an atmosphere of horror. On paper, the experience promises to be surprising, but we’re staying cautious with the Bloober team, which can do both the best and the worst. The promise is beautiful so we believe it and hope for a great game!
Little nightmares 2
Immersing the player in his childish fears for the second time, TARSIER STUDIOS remembers Six, the heroine of the first part, in order to throw her into a new nightmare. Don’t expect a less hostile environment once you’ve explored the Lady’s Lair. This time you play Mono, the main protagonist of this new episode. Led by the little girl in the yellow raincoat, you will try to escape a vicious world populated by people who are no less. Once again, discretion will be your best ally, so make yourself small.
Far Cry 6
Far Cry, a license that gave each episode its full meaning for the main antagonist, returns in a sixth work with a class object up its sleeve. Giancarlo Esposito, an actor recognized worldwide for his roles in Breaking Bad or The Mandalorian, will give his features and voice to Anton Castillo, El Presidente, who rules the island of Yara with an iron fist. Discover this Cuba-inspired heavenly place where the locals rise, challenge power and dive behind the scenes of a dictatorship. Face Anton’s madness as he strives to train his son to follow him. Far Cry, which Far Cry seems to be doing by stepping up its casting and writing, exciting!
FF7 remake
The remake of the most iconic RPG is expected to have been available on PS4 since last year and will be released on Xbox this year. The wait could well help us pass an Xbox Series X and Series S optimization while we should talk about the “continuation” of the game. Because this remake is actually being marketed in several parts, of which this is only the first. Finding Avalanche, Sector 7, and New Screenwriting, however, is sure to be one of the highlights on Microsoft consoles.
Elden ring
The future production of From Software, to whom we owe the Dark Souls series and GRR Martin, the successful author of Game of Thrones, Elden Ring crystallizes the wildest expectations. It has to be said that the studio responsible for the project has refined its challenging game formula with Sekiro: Shadow Dies Twice and thus created a title that has shaped the spirits. The little information about the universe of the title and its gameplay make it a very mysterious work even today. And we look forward to discovering the fruits of this union, which on paper promises great things.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Mass Effect is a trilogy that many gamers hold dear. She will be back in 2021! Bioware’s Space Opera returns in a legendary edition that brings together the three episodes of Shepard’s Adventure and all of the additional content that comes with it. Everything should benefit from updated graphics adapted to current standards. Prepare to step aboard Normandy and discover a galaxy full of secrets, colorful characters and an engaging story that adapts to your choices! Without a doubt one of the most emblematic licenses of the “big” organic goods that will be presented to a new audience, and we can only be pleased.
Hogwarts Legacy
If Harry Potter is a major literary work and is inevitable in the cinema, the wizard will have more trouble establishing himself in video games. But with a rich lore and a particularly wide variety of gameplay options, from learning spells to solving puzzles to driving flying brooms to exploring Hogwarts, there is plenty to do. to give us a great and immersive video game experience. This is what Hogwarts Legacy will try to offer us, an open world role-playing game that breaks away from the famous wizard to tell us about an adventure that takes place before Harry’s exploits. And to tell you a unique story, let the developers use ancient magic to do good or bad at will!
We could have mentioned too …
Of course, these are not our only expectations for the coming year. A variety of other titles will no doubt be our joy over the months, but we wanted to focus on the ones that truly trample us more than anyone else with impatience. Not far from those thirteen titles, here is a brief selection of the games that have been mentioned but not kept. And you, who are you most looking forward to?
