It is clear that the new Mac M1s have captured the attention of the entire industry as well as users. Lots of tests, questions, experiments and predictions have been run on these machines, and there is still room for more. TrendForce calculated the market share of these computers and offered impressive data on its growth.
7% market share in a few months
TrendForce places the current market share of Mac M1s at around 0.8%, a figure expected given the recent launch. However, as we all know and many of us hope before this summer new M1 computers are expected to arrive, we are talking about the 16in MacBook Pros, the high end 13in MacBook Pros and the iMac. With the addition of all these models, the analysis firm hopes that, by the summer, M1 processor market share in PC market is impressive 7%.
This value is also accompanied by the global situation and a growth in Laptop sales that grew 22.5% annually according to TrendForce. The company expects 217 million shipments to be made in 2021, up 8.6% year-over-year, up from 200 this year. It is in this environment that the M1 comes into play.
Along with the launch of Apple Silicon M1, Apple also completed the integration between its hardware, software, and SaaS platforms. The company is expected to launch the 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, which will feature Apple processors, after 2Q21, which will bring the market share of Apple laptops to around 7%.
It is clear that Macs equipped with M1 will continue to make headlines, either because of their launch, or because of the expected capabilities of the new generation that we are currently calling M1X, or because of the share of market they will reach. We are certainly at the start of his journey, so much remains to be seen.
