According to a surprise teaser tweeted by Bethesda Softworks Tuesday morning, an Indiana Jones game is in development, produced by Machinegames and Executive Todd Howard.
The teaser contains few details – like start date or windows or platforms – but there is no doubt that this is an Indiana Jones game. This year Lucasfilm is celebrating the 40th anniversary of Hunter of the lost treasure
A follow-up tweet from Bethesda said Todd Howard, creative direc tor of Bethesda Game Studios, would be executive producer for the untitled game. It will contain an original story and is not an adaptation of an earlier one.
A new Indiana Jones game with an original story is currently being developed out of our studio. @MachineGamesand is produced by Todd Howard in collaboration with @ LucasfilmGames. It will be some time before we have more to reveal, but we’re very excited to share today’s news!

Despite the series’ popularity, Indiana Jones video games were hard to come by outside of their Lego adaptations from Traveller’s Tales. The last one was in 2009 Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kingsfor Wii and PlayStation 2 with versions for Nintendo DS and PlayStation Portable.
The game was planned for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and development is said to have been at a fairly advanced stage in 2008 when Lucasarts abruptly abandoned the project for these platforms.
On Monday, Lucasfilm announced that the Lucasfilm Games label would now accompany any video game customization of the Lucasfilm properties. This appears to be the first game to come out with this branding.
MachineGames, owned by Bethesda Softworks, has made four adjustments to the Wolfenstein series from id Software as of 2014 Wolfenstein: The new order. Microsoft bought the Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media in September.
