One of the games announced for PS5 that most attracts our attention is Returnal, the bizarre Housemarque title in which an astronaut must experience a nightmarish adventure over and over again in an alien world. We had already found out before details of its gameplay, but it’s time to learn more about the mechanics of his combat.
As you can see in the video, this is not going to be a cover-and-shoot title when enemies allow it. The action will not stop and we will have to move between the hundreds of shots that will fill the screen.
The protagonist of ReturnalSelene will be able to excel in combat with a wide variety of weapons made by humans and aliens. The type and speed of your shots will be the difference between life and death. However, we can equip them Modifiers that will significantly alter their behavior. Each will have an alternate firing mode.
In total, we will have 10 base weapons, more than 90 modifiers (each with three levels) and 10 alternative shots. As you can see, we will have numerous combinations of weapons to try in each cycle of the adventure.
We will also have Devices like the Cthonos. This is an alien device that generates a random item at the beginning of each cycle. You can analyze our performance and you will occasionally reward us with new articles. We can also find Parasites that will modify some of our abilities in exchange for some disadvantages and Tools that we can use in combat. All this will make each game different, like a roguelike.
