Finally, some good news: New Pokémon Snap will be released on April 30 for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company announced on Thursday. The continuation of the original Pokémon Snap, Released for Nintendo 64 in 1999, will send players to the Lental region to take photos of Pokémon in the wild.
According to a press release, the players will work with Professor Mirror and his assistant Rita “on an ecological survey to photograph Lental Pokémon that thrive in nature.” Players will travel to the Lental Islands in a rail vehicle known as the Neo-One on various routes. Lental Pokémon are attracted to “fluffruit,” an edible item that certainly makes photography in the wild much easier.
Like the original Pokémon SnapPokémon player photos are judged by their pose, how tall the creatures are in the photos, whether they are aimed at the camera lens, and where they fall in the frame. Pokémon behavior that changes over time New Pokémon Snapand players “may see Pokémon in a whole new way.” A press release also teases a new phenomenon that is native to the Lental region: Illumina, a mysterious glow that emanates from some Pokémon.
