Ahead of the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S21 line, the tech giant quietly announced a new, fairly inexpensive 5G phone, the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G.

It might not be a top-of-the-line phone with the most striking features, but it’s a low-end device that initially seems worth it (you’ll have to wait to test it to prove it).

Samsung announced the specifications and images of the phone in a blog post on its website. With four color options (black, white, blue, and purple), it’s a light and slim device, weighing just 205 grams.

The phone is equipped with a quad rear camera setup, which looks sleek and refined, very different from the thick design seen on the S21.

It consists of a 48 MP main lens, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens (complete with a 123-degree field of view), a 5 MP macro lens, and a depth lens of 2 MP. The camera on the front is 13 MP, which is housed in a teardrop-shaped notch.

Under the hood, the A32 has an eighth processor, although it doesn’t have a name yet. Android Central suspects that this may be Mediatek Dimensity’s 700 series chip, which was recently announced.

This is paired with 4, 6 or 8 GB of RAM, plus 128 GB of storage and a microSD slot for up to 1 TB of additional space.

The phone also has a large 5000mAh battery and 15W fast charging technology. Combine all of that with 5G connectivity, and the Samsung Galaxy A32 5G looks like a competitive device in the budget space. While this isn’t the first inexpensive 5G phone to hit the market, with competition from the TCL 20 5G and Motorola One 5G.

The 6.5-inch display is also HD + (720p) only, which is a shame given that many competitors have 1080p displays. However, it could be a compelling device for those who want a Samsung 5G device without having to waste an exorbitant amount of money.
