We recently found out that Elon Musk offered Apple to buy Tesla. A conversation that did not bear fruit, but that does not prevent Dream about what Model 3’s screens would look like if Apple were the automaker. A video shows us CarPlay in all its glory and it gives us some ideas that we might actually see coming in the future.
A CarPlay that could arrive in the Apple Car or via third-party manufacturers
In the video, graphic designer John Calkins shares his concept of Apple Autos, the operating system that would bring the Model 3 screen to life. An operating system that splits the screen quite similar to the current Car Play.
On the left side we would find the Dock and the basic information of the time as well as access to Siri. On your right, vehicle information and basic controls for music, air conditioning, lights, etc. And in the remaining right half navigation as well as all the applications that we could open on the screen.
The truth is, it’s a very interesting concept and not at all unreal. We’re totally unaware of Apple’s plans for its self-driving car, but what we do know is that several third-party manufacturers can, at any time, offer a display of this size to fit in current vehicles.
Beyond the integration with the car system and the various applications that can be run on this gigantic screen, what is clear is that autonomous vehicles are a whole field of research and development with thousands of possibilities. For now, it’s a concept, but everything seems to indicate that sooner or later we’ll see something similar in an Apple keynote.
