The sales of digital games increased significantly year-on-year, setting a record of $12 billion in December, thanks in part to the release of Cyberpunk 2077.

According to SuperData’s figures, Cyberpunk 2077 Helped digital PC sales increase by 40% year-on-year.

Total monthly revenue in December also increased by 15% over the same period last year. Mobile business grew by 5% year-on-year, while gaming console revenue grew by 16%.

The SuperData report points out that, based on digital revenue and digital units sold, “Cyberpunk 2077” is the game with the largest circulation in history, at approximately 10.2 million. Despite the problems, the game broke records and the game has been removed from the PlayStation Store. As for digital sales, 80% are on PC, which may be due to the delisting on PlayStation and the overall state of the console version.

Moving to other games, the number of players in the US may have fallen from the peak in November, but it is still 2.8 times that of Roblox, the second most popular game. The title was also released on Switch in December and moved 3.2 million copies, which was the highest-paid version of the game in December.

GTA Online released Cayo Perico Heist, the game has the highest monthly digital revenue ever. Compared with November, the number of players has also increased by 46%.

On PCs and game consoles, Fortnite’s revenue hit the highest level since August 2020, and the number of players surpassed any time since August 2019. In December, the limited-time Marvel Comics event attracted 15.3 million concurrent players.
