Hire sometime in the distant future, Gundam mobile suit follows the story of a galactic war between the Earth Federation and the Principality of Zeon. The two warring factions take on the decks of massive spaceships, planets full of civilians, and most importantly, giant piloted ‘Mechs called Gundams.
Originally broadcast in 1979, Gundam mobile suit helped popularize the mecha genre. The series often deals with topics such as the impact of war on soldiers and the toll war can take on the civilizations that fight them. However, if that’s not quite your speed, there are hundreds of giant space battles between robots the size of buildings too.
Since its original release, the Gundam series includes dozens of spin-off series, films, games, manga, Amusement parks, and Restaurants. Many of these spin-offs, including Gundam Wing mobile suit, Mobile fighter G Gundam, and Gundam Seed mobile suit, are already available to stream on Crunchyroll – although the service lacks other entries in the series such as Mobile suit Gundam 0080: War in your pocket.
