Honor, the Huawei brand, is becoming more and more available in our market, not just in offering Smartphones of quality, but yours smartwatches is becoming increasingly competent.
Like its phones, smart watches announced by the brand are following Huawei's most popular models, which is not a bad sign, because China's reputation is reflected in its ability to create amazing quality products at the lowest prices and potential.
For this we will focus on talking about one of the latest Huawei sub-brand products, that is it carries The Honor Magic Watch 2, a smart watch that comes in two different sizes (42 and 46 mm) and promises to offer up to 15 days of battery life.
We had the good fortune to check out our Magic Watch 2 for days to tell you more about its design, quality, specification and performance. How long does the new battery last? it carries Fame? We tell you all this and much more to us to review Complete the Honor Magic Watch 2.
Price and availability
The Honor Magic Watch 2 will go on sale from December 12 and will be available in all markets. For euros you can buy in two different prices: € 179 will cost the smallest model (42 mm) and € 189 will cost the 46 mm model.
The same December 12th you can buy smartwatch online through Honor's official website, so don't forget it.
Design and build quality
If we take the reference to the previous model, that is, the Honor Watch Magic, we would appreciate that the Watch 2 sinks its construction into a larger screen with a different style.
In this we find four different models: two with the smallest case of 42 mm (Agate Black and Sakura Gold) and two with the largest case of 46 mm (Flax Brown and Charcoal Black).
In addition to the box size, we found the difference in resolution (454 x 454 pixels in the large model and 390 x 390 pixels in the smaller model) and apparently in screen size (1.39 and 1.2 inches), though they all come with an AMOLED screen, which is quite enjoyable.
Clock size will also affect battery life, although this will be discussed below in a specific section related to the battery.
We can say that each size offers a sportier and more attractive model. In this case to review We will focus on talking about the model we are able to test, namely, the 46 mm Charcoal Black.
Our feeling when we wear a watch is illuminating: it sounds like a quality device, with a nice finish of the 361L stainless steel and black rubber strap. We can say that it has a very sporty style and does not fit with anything in particular except for the convenience that will make it suitable for any style.
The fact that it is made of 361L stainless steel means that it is more resistant to corrosion in general, than the high temperature. This ensures that the clock will last much longer than expected (at least its exterior).
From all of this we add that it is waterproof, can be installed up to 50 meters in depth, making it more resistant and suitable for those who enjoy swimming activities.
It sounds easy when you are wearing it (not weighing 41 grams) and the fact is that it is comfortable to wear. We quickly forget that we wear it.
As in the previous Model, on the right side we get two buttons that will take us to two different menus or that we can customize to access specific programs. Pretty much we think they are very expressive, which is why we have started exercises and accidentally opened systems when we took off the coat or stuffed it.
Its design is very similar to the Huawei Watch GT 2, and we think it fits the Samsung Samsung Watch Active2 style, especially when looking at the 42 mm black model.
These similarities do not have to be seen as something negative but opposite, both models, Huawei and Samsung, have achieved amazing achievements that show the style that loves and excites a large segment of users. smartwatches, so why not imitate what is good?
Now, when we press any of the side buttons we have already mentioned, an amazing AMOLED screen is opened, in this case 1.39 centimeters (remember we are testing the 46 mm model).
As you will know the AMOLED screen is capable of consuming less power and shows a higher contrast than other screen types, something that is fully appreciated on the Magic Watch 2.
The screen looks and feels quality, responds well to touch and looks great in bright colors.
Finally, it's important to say that you can choose between different faces of your watch. The fact is that they all have the same game styles and the same. You will find many basic and other models that will allow you to see all the details you want to see at a glance.
However, if you are using the Health app on your phone to access the settings of the Magic Watch 2, you can choose from a wide variety of spheres to install whenever you want.
Battery life
Powerful battery here smartwatch It is indeed a very remarkable feature. Honor ensures that the larger Magic Watch 2, that is, the 46 mm is able to withstand 14 days of operation without charging (the 42 mm model promises 7 days).
This has an impact on the other hand of the Kirin A1 chip, which is much more powerful, which we will talk about next, the fact that it is in front of the AMOLED screen (this type of screen uses very little power and requires less space), and ultimately 455 mAh battery.
If you look at the first generation of the Magic Watch, we find that the Honor has been able to increase its battery capacity almost twice, which is surprising. 178 mAh we saw his first smartwatch, we received 455 mAh on the Magic Watch 2.
All of these wallpapers are pretty cool, but is it true? To our knowledge of the clock, the battery results have been excellent, but far from the 14-day number the Honorable promised.
On November 25th we set the clock and the 100% battery at 12:00 am and were able to stay until December 2 at 22:30. This is 7 days though a 46 mm watch is used.
The use we gave the clock was very common: we used it to measure some of our movements, as well as to answer calls and receive notifications from WhatsApp (the only app we had updated to receive notifications).
Although the figure is reduced by half, the fact is that a whole week of battery without charging is a pretty good statistic.
The time it takes to charge is also correct: in half an hour the Magic Watch 2 charged 52%, and within an hour it had charged 100%, ready to continue for another week.
Hardware
In addition to the slight refinement depending on the designs we get in front of the previous Honor Magic Watch, we are getting some upgrades such as its new Kirin A1 processor, specially developed by HiSilicon wearable This chip will give life to the LiteOS operating system that we'll talk about later.
This is the same chip we got on Huawei Watch GT 2 and Huawei FreeBuds 3. Although it sounds ambitious, this processor aims to get the Qualcomm & # 39; s Snapdragon 3100 itself, and of course it's not in bad shape.
This chip is made possible by using Bluetooth 5.1 technology, thanks to the fact that (along with your speaker and microphone obviously) you can receive calls with the Magic Watch 2 even if you have one. smartphone 150 meters away.
Our experience with the clock tells us that it is very effective. When someone calls you the clock is vibrating on your wrist and you can choose to respond or bind. When you answer a call you can talk on the clock without having to put it in your mouth.
This means that you can continue peacefully with the tasks you are currently doing, even moving your hands, and the call is still heard and accepted in quality.
Of course, you do not intend to use this function when there are many people around or when you are on the road, because the person who is calling you or your partner will be more attentive with the speakerphone, which means everyone can hear.
In addition to Bluetooth 5.1, it is compatible with Blue LE 5.1 and is capable of processing Bluetooth Ultra HD thanks to it where it can support bandwidths of 6.5 Mbps (though it will only use up to 2.3 Mbps for standard quality audio).
It has 4 GB of storage memory, which you can use 2 GB to save music that you can play directly from the clock. It is not possible to install applications, so this will be the only way you will have to use gigabytes of storage.
The processor also allows for double GPS frequency. Of course you know, because double frequency has stopped being the creative technology to be the norm for most devices, but if you don't know yet, double frequency allows for a more advanced type of GPS.
That is, it uses a linear velocity measurement because it captures two distinct signals. This minimizes geolocation estimation errors for any delays.
In addition, it comes with a number of sensors that will be enjoyed by sports enthusiasts. This is why, above all software dedicated to physical and mental functioning, so Honor Magic 2 becomes an excellent tool used as a career threat.
It comes, like many advanced watches, with heart rate monitor, atraya fibrillation reader, accelerometer, gyroscope and barometer. Below we will talk more in detail about how Honor Magic Watch 2 software uses all these measuring sensors.
Software: Health and fitness
As we mentioned in the previous sections, the Honor Magic Watch 2 comes with a Kirin A1 chip that can give life to a specific operating system for wearable, that is, Liteos.
We are experiencing a simple and easy-to-navigate interface. All done by the side buttons thanks will open two menus: the button above allows you to access the entire menu of apps, while the one below opens a menu for various types of physical activity.
If you wish, you can change the functionality that provides the buttons, if there are other apps you use more often and have access to them faster.
As far as we know about the clock, we have met several times when we accidentally started the exercise by pressing the side buttons by mistake when taking off our coat or walking.
Both menus allow you to scroll through the list of applications to select the one you need. The system responds quickly to touch which makes navigation easier and easier and less frustrating than other smartwatches.
As expected by the Huawei device, it doesn't come with the factory-installed Google app, and we also don't have the option of installing anything else on the phone, which can be frustrating.
You can choose which applications are included in the paired phone you want to appear on Magic Watch 2 but, even though you see messages that will come to you on the screen smartwatch, you cannot respond in any way with a single clock.
To get the most out of your watch, you should download the Huawei Health app on your mobile phone. In our case we have used a smartphone Honor the 20 Pro to check the phone for any factory installation.
As you would expect from two devices of the same product, pairing was quick, easy and precise, you should follow the steps from the phone and the clock.
The Honor Magic Watch 2 lets you record 15 different functions, eight of which are external and seven internally. This means that you can measure different aspects of each body function, such as saturated oxygen saturation.
In our case, we use it to measure some of our long journeys through London, and as you can see in the picture below, the details are organized in a very accurate way.
In addition, we can activate the option of getting advice while being trained by the voice command, which will undoubtedly help keep many influencers motivated. Speaking of motivation: Magic Watch 2 can detect when you're not traveling for long and will send you a notification.
One of our favorite activities has been sleep monitoring thanks to Huawei TrueS sleep 2.0. You should wear a watch on your wrist while you sleep (because of its 7-day battery life you will probably never remove), and open the Health app on your mobile phone the next day.
During the application we can create a profile where all our physical activities will be recorded in addition to the data about our dream. The fact is that the details are very different: we will know how many hours we sleep and what our sleep quality is.
Huawei is able to point thanks to this app up to six common sleep disturbance patterns. In addition, it provides you with tips, suggestions and additional information to help you achieve that quality dream we all need.
Finally, we would like to say your pressure gauge sensor. This tool can help you better understand your stress levels and monitor them so that you can improve your mental health.
The decision
The Honor Magic Watch 2 looks like a superb watch with impressive battery life. Although there is nothing strange about the aesthetics in their composition, the fact is that we like to be an ancient, simple and athletic model at the same time.
Sche hardware emphasizing quality and resistance, we are undoubtedly facing a device designed to last longer and help us maintain an active lifestyle as well.
It is clear that we have loved its records of all kinds of physical activity and all the ways it has to measure sleep, pressure, heart rate. For all this installation Huawei Health app, which seems intuitive, easy to use and very helpful.
However, it is not perfect. Being a Huawei we can't install apps other than those installed in the factory, which greatly reduces the clock's chances. And we can't respond from a clock to other messages from apps installed on our phone, and without a doubt, what else you have against it is lacking NFC technology to make payments with communication
Aside from this little evil, the Honor Magic Watch 2 is a smartwatch excellent, which greatly enhances its previous model and is available in the market offering excellent value for money.
