Currently, the SBMM debate continues to keep the CoD community in suspense – the system is blamed for bad gaming experiences and is increasingly being tricked by fraudsters.
Accordingly, a statement from industry insider provided Tom Henderson in the battlefield community for nervousness, accordingly SBMM also used in Battlefield 6 should come. In a video, Henderson explains why the concerns should be largely unjustified.
What SBMM (short for »Skill-Based Matchmaking«) actually is and why it is so hotly discussed, especially in the CoD community, is summarized here for you:

SBMM anger in CoD: what’s going on?
“Yes, Battlefield 6 will have SBMM, but the system won’t necessarily be as bad as many people think it is now,” Henderson said in his video on Youtube
- SBMM is not handled like in CoD MW or Warzone.
- A new SBMM patent from EA prioritizes the connection.
- BF6 also offers custom servers without any SBMM.
How reliable are these forecasts? Currently, the statements made by the speaker cannot be checked or confirmed. Information from such unofficial sources should therefore always be treated with caution. It is not yet known whether EA will actually implement its patent for BF6.
Who is the leaker?
Tom Henderson is better known under the pseudonym LongSensationYT and has a proven track record of inside sources in the developer community. He gained notoriety among CoD fans because he correctly predicted the name and setting of Modern Warfare and had predicted a Free2Play Battle Royale release long before the release of Warzone.
How BF6 should do it better
According to Henderson, Battlefield 6 will also feature player-operated custom servers where appropriate no SBMM possible is. The system is only used for players who join via official lobbies or via matchmaking, according to Henderson.
In addition, according to Henderson, a new SBMM patent from EA could already be used in BF6. The system primarily takes the connection into account, so that a good ping always has priority over the player’s skill – and that alone is superior to the SBMM in Warzone.
Is EA’s patent the solution?
The patent states that in this form of SBMM it is not the skill of the individual but of the whole lobby that is balanced. It works like this:
- Players with a suitable connection quality are matched.
- A complex algorithm simulates a match in seconds.
- Factors are behavior, K / D, experience, etc. of all players.
- If the match is one-sided or unfair, the lobby is shuffled.
- Only when a fair match has been simulated does the round start.
The advantages of this system are obvious: On the one hand, the ping remains the primary factor and the connection quality does not suffer. On the other hand, players with different skill levels meet each other. The described SBMM system tries to ensure an overall match that is as balanced as possible.
We won’t find out whether it really happens that way until the end of 2021, when the shooter appears. Until then, you can find everything we know about Battlefield 6 in our overview.
