Those who survived this fun time can remember the television adaptation of The Adventures of the Blue Bomber, aired between 1994 and 1996. This American-Japanese collaboration was visually influenced by the fashion style in the US, somewhere between GI Joe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with a fair share of angular jaws and other age-old clichés as you (re) discover Here.

What is less known is that other prep work was in progress for this adaptation, but very varied as it was of Japanese inspiration.

We received never-before-seen materials for an undeveloped Mega Man anime from the ’90s … OR a very early incarnation of the Ruby Spears cartoon.

These few pictures, available in our picture gallery, show an artistic direction that is just as pronounced as the character designer Nobuyoshi Habara owes it to.
The interested party stated that this work dates back to 1992, when a contract across the Atlantic had not yet been signed to adapt Mega Man’s adventures to television. If the American project had aired for two seasons, its Japanese equivalent would never have seen the light of day.
