Apple has long promised that it could lock iCloud notes with a password, enough work to store sensitive data such as bank accounts or passwords among other things. And as we explained in the lesson, to be able to protect those passwords with a face ID or touch ID you must set a password.
And once you've created that password, the Note app doesn't give you the option to change it anywhere. But be calm: we can change or use a password that is unique to other notes. Let's take a look at how we can achieve it in iOS / iPadOS and MacOS.
On iOS / iPadOS you have to install the app Settings, look & # 39; Notes & # 39; access to your favorite. In it we will find an option & # 39; Password & # 39;:
Within that option we can click & # 39; Change password & # 39;. To do that we will obviously need the original password, if we forget it we will not be able to access the protected notes we have stored so far.
In macOS we have the same selection of the Notes section of the Notes app, below:
Password reset is not the same as changing it
You may notice an additional option called & # 39; Reset password & # 39;. What we do here is not to change it, but to create new functionality in the protected notes you created from this moment. All protected notes you already have will continue to be unlocked with your original password.
This function can be used to secure notes with unique passwords to each other, but be careful: if you forget some of them you can lose the passwords you protect. Our recommendation is to use the same password for all notes, and don't forget how often you turn on a touch ID or facial ID to unlock. And of course, do not use the iPhone unlock code as a note lock password!
