Disney + is diligently expanding its Marvel series offering: A show about the Kingdom of Wakanda is now officially in development, as Netzwelt reveals.

The MCU-Film “Black Panther” from 2018 was an overwhelming success for the Marvel Studios and parent company Disney: The blockbuster with the 1st black superhero as the main character grossed over 1.3 billion US dollars worldwide – and the second part should come to the cinemas in 2022.
So it is not surprising that Disney has full confidence in “Black Panther 1 + 2” director Ryan Coogler: As among other things der Hollywood Reporter reports, Coogler developed for Disney+ a Marvel series set in the mythical African kingdom of Wakanda.

Further details on the upcoming series project are not yet known at the moment. Ryan Coogler’s production company Proximity Media signed a 5-year TV deal with Disney that includes the Disney + Wakanda series as well as other MCU series and projects on other Disney channels and platforms.
