Blizzard have announced new details for BlizzConline, the virtual convention which takes place in a couple of weeks.

Blizzard Unveils New Details for BlizzConline

Blizzard has announced some further details about the upcoming virtual replacement for BlizzCon, clumsily called BlizzConline this year (anyone else get the urge to call it BlizzColon by accident?). The opening ceremony will start on Friday February 19th at 2PM PST/5PM EST. The first promotion image features a few well-known Blizz characters, including D.Va in the background representing Overwatch alongside Starcraft’s Jim Raynor. There’s also Illadin showing off some Hearthstone skills in the foreground, along with the Lich King himself for World of Warcraft, and Lilith taking center from upcoming Diablo 4.

Hopefully this image means we are getting updates for all of these games, especially Diablo 4 which has been getting quarterly updates, but it would be great to see more gameplay and maybe a release window of some sort? Maybe it’s a bit too much to ask with the year we’ve had last year. We’re probably closer to a Diablo Immortal release date if anything, as the free-to-play mobile RPG had an alpha version at the end of last year. If you’re interested to watch some Diablo Immortal gameplay impressions head over to our Youtube channel.

The open ceremony will offer six channels of programming according to Polygon. The event will last “three-plus hours”, going over recent and past announcements for fans, plus taking some questions from the audience.

BlizzConline’s second day will feature more Q&As with Blizzard developers and competitions and cosplay exhibitions on Saturday February 20th at 12 PM PST/3 PM EST.

BlizzConline will be free this year, as it takes place all online which can be watched on the official BlizzCon website. While there is no virtual ticket this year, fans can still get some Blizzard virtual goodies as they celebrate their 30th Anniversary. This bundle includes a polar bear World of Warcraft mount that drops snowballs for other players to pick and throw, pets, Diablo 3 emblems and wings, StarCraft 2 emblems, Hearthstone card packs, and more.  There will also be a console version for players coming soon for Overwatch and Diablo 3.
