Hello ghouls and rotten friends! Jacob Jazz here, solo creator of the Baobab Mausoleum saga! I am also the wizard of Celery Emblem, I have been creating indie games since 2010.

Baobabs Mausoleum is a dreamlike mix between the RPG adventures of handheld consoles of the 90s and the great graphic adventures of the late 80s. I create a unique nightmare universe loaded with both literary and cinematic influences.

The mix of ideas and emotions converge in one point: the town of Flamingo’s Creek in County Wlair. This place only appears every 25 years, and only in Nightmares.

Development context

After five years of development and the launch of episodic chapters, Baobabs Mausoleum: Country of Woods & Creepy Tales, arrives in full today with its Grindhouse Edition on PlayStation. Developed in the dark monster garage of Jacob Jazz in the city of Madrid.

Inspiration

To build the stories that make up Flamingo’s Creek, I decided to pay homage to my favorite cinematic works, so I used the key artistic baggage in films from directors such as Tim Burton or Terry Guilliam, using picturesque storylines that seem to be taken. excerpt from a film by David Lynch, without forgetting the use of a music of style “video clip” close to the famous scenes of Tarantino; As you can see, it is the mixture of a lot of things in order to achieve a new and unique style.

About the city

The town of Flamingo’s Creek is a recurring dream of mine – a mixture of deconstructed experiences. It is a rural mountain town, with a community of characters totally isolated from the rest of the world. From time to time, the idea of creating my own town (a la Twin Peaks) was a constant for years. I often think that the real protagonist of this adventure is not Watracio, but the citizens themselves.

To really experience Flamingo’s Creed, you have to play all three episodes. However, in the episode two players can explore freely, using a day and night cycle. The passage of time intends to create a window through the screen to better understand the city and its secrets. When you’re not playing, life in Flamingo’s Creek continues …

About the inhabitants

There are 64 characters in this curious community, each with their own quirky personality. All of them have been designed to bring adventure and humor to the player with their own life, which makes you want to get to know them better.

Many of them are themselves, personalities who pay homage to other beings, to games or to films; we have the case that director John Carpenter just moved to town! You might discover references to entities from familiar games or movies in the city. Can you spot any weird characters that remind you of someone?

Baobabs Mausoleum Grindhouse Edition is now available on PlayStation Store. Your visit to Flamingo’s Creek awaits you …
