Techland admits that Dying Light 2 was announced too early

Admits, announced, Dying, Early, Light, Techland

Techland continues to come under fire from critics. Indeed, the Polish developer has been the subject of lively comments from gamers and the trade press for several months. The studio, which was shaken for the first time after the postponement of Dying Light 2 last year without announcing a new date, has tarnished its image even after allegations of toxic management and disastrous project management. These events are difficult to manage and have led the teams to be discreet about their future production. But all of that could change from March 17th and an unprecedented presentation of Dying Light 2.

Before this event, however, the Polish studio took the time to respond to various players on Twitter. And so he tells one of them that Dying Light 2 is making progress. Along with the latest level of development allegations, the game’s official report states that it is a far cry from the hell presented by some. Most importantly, for the first time, Techland admits it was rushing to announce the game.

If this answer has the benefit of being frank, it necessarily raises questions about the studio’s previous statements and the reasons for the postponement. While Dying Light 2 appeared to be quite advanced when it was announced and in 2019 in joint gameplay footage, it could be very different. That would do credit to the various sources in Techland who claimed the team just didn’t know where they were going.

Strong remarks have indeed been passed, with little pointing the finger at the leaders’ inability to control production. The deteriorated working atmosphere, the lack of visions and decisions that are not always relevant to the following steps have slowed down the development of the game considerably. Worse, it has been called Hell by some, and there are now many doubts about its release.

Techland will now need to reassure players on March 17th. The shadow of a particular Cyberpunk 2077 now hangs over the project and concerns are substantial. If it is certain that we will discover new images of the game, we also hope for a release date for Dying Light 2. A date that is undoubtedly much more important than it seems to the Polish studio.
