Developer CD Projekt Red announced new details for the second major update Cyberpunk 2077 on Friday, when In fiction news broadcast. According to the developer, the 1.2 update is for Cyberpunk 2077 will address issues related to police response to player actions and add nuance and control to driving and moving on foot. The patch has no release date.

Players who intentionally or unintentionally commit crimes in Night City may have noticed the disturbing speed with which the Night City Police Department is responding. CD Projekt Red is aware of the situation and is making some adjustments to where and when the cops show up with blazing guns. Law enforcement should no longer appear right behind the player and will generally take more time to respond. Beat Cops will also be preceded by a flying drone, a new addition to the game.

Developers admit that driving has been a bit nervous since launch, especially on PC. It turns out that the game’s frame rate complicated the problem.

“At lower frame rates, our cars were harder to control,” said CDPR. “We attributed this to code that wasn’t properly handling extreme frame rate changes. The steering speed is now very constant from 20 to 60+ FPS. “

Individual cars have also been tweaked in great detail, including the player’s launch vehicle. CD Projekt Red also noted that cars sometimes got stuck on environmental details such as curbs and bollards. The 1.2 update will add an “unstuck” feature that will allow players to rock vehicles back and forth while holding down the accelerator pedal.

Finally, players now have finer control over keyboard bindings related to simple movements. This includes a revision of the game’s evasive action. More details can be found at the official blog post.

Cyberpunk 2077 was perhaps the most anticipated game of the past decade but failed to meet players’ expectations at launch. Refunds were given to consumers directly by the developer, and the game itself was even taken off sale in some online stores. CD Projekt co-founder and managing director Marcin Iwiński took the blame himself, saying in January that the company “underestimated” the task of getting the game to work at an acceptable level on last-generation consoles.

Until now, the game has had several urgent “hotfixes” – including one to resolve a security issue that could compromise user devices. CD project is far from finished.

According to a development roadmap the studio released in January, the next phase will include refinement and release of free downloadable content, as well as a free update to improve the game on current generation consoles. At this time, Cyberpunk 2077 is only playable on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X via backward compatibility.
