The world’s most fanatical JRPG fans surely recognize the name Kazushige Nojima. This popular writer has worked on such popular sagas as Final Fantasy Y Kingdom Hearts. He was also responsible for the beloved ‘Subspace Emmisary’ campaign for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and is working on the titles of the new compilation of FFVII.
Today we remember this writer because a new RPG written by him has been announced. His name is Astoria Ascending It will be released for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in Japan, where it will go on sale at an as-yet-undetermined date in 2021.
The truth is to say that Astoria Ascending is a ‘new’ game is somewhat misleading. In 2015, the Kobojo studio released a game for iOS devices called Zodiac: Orcanon Odysssey. It combined elements of Final Fantasy, Valkyrie Profile Y Dragon’s Crown. Astoria Ascending it will be a total reconstruction of this title with new graphics that mimic a moving painting, new music and game systems, but keeping the same story as Kazushige Nojima.
Composer Hitoshi Sakimoto, famous for his work on SquareEnix works such as Final Fantasy Tactics, is also working on this title.
We still do not know anything about a possible launch in the West, but we will be very vigilant.
