Immortals Fenyx Rising – Myths of the Eastern Realm released today for PS4 and PS5, allowing players to embark on an all-new DLC adventure inspired by Chinese mythology and led by the Ubisoft Chengdu team. Focusing on a new hero – Ku, the last human remaining following a catastrophic event – the DLC takes place in a new land of clouds and jagged peaks, where players fight to help the goddess Nuwa to prevent reality from sinking into primordial chaos.

Set against the backdrop of the classic Chinese myth Nuwa Mends the Heavens – in which Nuwa, the Chinese creative goddess, restores balance after a catastrophic war in the sky – the DLC weaves elements from the earliest period of Chinese mythology. As they explore the verdant and legendary land of Peng Lai and his wild and barren neighbor Bu Zhou, players will discover a wide variety of environmental puzzles, fearsome monsters, and elements of myths that have been largely unexplored in video games.

Meet Ku, a formidable warrior and your new hero

Although he shares Fenyx’s whimsical and slightly naive outlook, Ku is a formidable warrior from the start. Right off the bat, he is able to immediately wield a Jian sword, ax and bow to destroy the new monsters in the DLC, using a new style of fighting and fighting inspired by Chinese martial arts. He can climb rocky cliffs with a large reserve of endurance; double jump without wings (although it has wings from the start); and use divine abilities like Pangu’s Strength, Yi’s Arrows, and Nuwa’s Agility, which strike enemies when Ku passes through them.

Additionally, two of Ku’s powers – the Blades of Huang Di and the Ax of Yan Di, which can launch enemies with blades pushed upwards and crush them with a giant ax, respectively – can unleash additional attacks while Ku loads a new, three-meter God Seal combination meter. Launch enough uninterrupted strikes and Huang Di’s blades unleash a flurry of whirling swords that target enemies directly, while Yan Di’s ax generates devastating, flaming shockwaves on impact.

New dungeons and puzzles await

The DLC also features an assortment of new puzzle elements, including windmills that can spin to redirect their airflow, musical chimes that need to be struck in sequence, and morph cubes that change in size and mass. when hit. In the Sky Ruins – dungeons filled with challenges similar to Tartaros’ chests – Ku will also have to deal with new elements like climbable clouds, which are carried by drafts and dissipate if they encounter obstacles; and rings of air that Ku can telekinize himself towards to maintain momentum while soaring.
