La Radio Shack Tandyvision One

In 1979 a certain Intellivision was put up for sale as it was the version marketed by Radio Shack.

The Intellivision is a console developed by Mattel’s electronics division and also released in 1979 that aims to compete with the Atari 2600 (click this LINK). Another competitor came out three years later: La Colecovision.

The best-known official Intellivision clone comes from Sears / Tele-Games. This console, known as the “Super Video Arcade”, was to be marketed only in Sears stores (Sears, Roebuck and Co).

We are therefore entitled to Tandyvision One for Radio Shack and its Tandy series. The term “One” indicates that Radio Shack wanted to release at least one other model from Tandyvision.

It will apparently not be the cause of the mistakes Mattel made with the module to turn the Intellivision into a small microcomputer.

Tandy then decides to end its partnership with Mattel.

The aesthetics of the console does not leave indifferent the use of “false wood”, which gives it a beautiful look.

As an official Intellivision clone, the Tandyvision One “runs” all games that are run on the Intellivision.

There are two versions of this console: the 1979 released version is the Model 2609 (like the Intellivision) while the (more common) 1981 release is the Model 58-1000.
