Playlists in the Music app on our Mac allow us to sort different songs from different albums in a specific order for later playback. We can create thematic lists, artists, etc. It’s so useful once you get to know them well that it’s common for us to have a lot of lists. How to keep order? Simple, with playlist folders.
Created on Mac synced to iPhone or iPad
The first thing to keep in mind is that to create these playlists we are going to need a Mac. Then, once the playlists are created, sync via iCloud and our Apple Music subscription with our iPhone or iPad. The steps to create a playlist are very simple:
- We open the app Song on our Mac.
- On the menu Archive we choose New and then Playlists folder.
- We write a name and press Enter.
We will see that the new folder appears in the left sidebar, below Reading lists. We can now add our lists to it. The process is that easy let’s click on a list and drag it to the folder we just created. It is important to keep in mind that only lists that we have created can be in a folder. Apple Music playlists should be left out.
And what are the advantages of folders?
Mainly the order they allow us to have if we have created many playlists. Being able to organize and “hide” them by tapping the triangle button to the left of the folder name is very useful.
Apart from the command, these folders allow us to reproduce the contents of different lists randomly or continuously. That is to say, as if it were a single list. To do this, something that is only available on the Mac, we just select the name from the sidebar list and choose to play O Random for the music to start playing. The reading will cover all the items in all the lists in the folder.
And it is simple. When the number of playlists we have created is enough to overwhelm us, we can easily sort them into different folders.
