How to remove the notification when a contact joins Signal

Signal is an application that wins a lot of users in the first months of this 2021, largely because of the privacy concerns of WhatsApp since this application is the most private in the segment of messaging applications. It is likely that more and more of your contacts are using this app on their phone.

As in Telegram, Signal emits a notification when one of your contacts starts using it. This notification can be useful to be able to contact that person using this app, but for most of the users it is annoying. Fortunately, we can turn it off easily.

Disable this notification in Signal

Now that many users are switching to this messaging app, it is likely that receive a notification on your phone when one of your contacts opens an account in the application. These types of notifications are annoying for many users, who don’t want to know when someone starts using the app. The advantage is that the application allows us to deactivate this notification at any time, by following these steps:

1. Open Signal on your Android phone.
2. Click on the three vertical dots at the top right.
3. Go to Settings.
4. Go to the Notifications section.
5. Scroll down to the Events section.
6. Uncheck the option “Someone is starting to use Signal”.

After disabling this option, it doesn’t matter if any of your contacts start using the app, because you will not receive a notification on your phone flagging it, you won’t find any when you open the app on your smartphone. You will only see if that person is using the app because they appear in your contact list in the app itself.

To see which of your contacts use the appOnce you open it on your Android phone, you will need to click on the pencil icon to display the contact list. There you can see from the contacts you have on your mobile which of them are using this application. So you can send them a message whenever you want.
