Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City: The movie reboot doesn’t start until later

Anyone who has been looking forward to the film reboot of Resident Evil must now be strong: Contrary to the previous plans, there is now a delay in the start date to be announced.

After a number of strips, the film series around the horror franchise Resident Evil is also to be reissued. A corresponding reboot was announced long ago with “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” and even dated to the exact day. However, you will have to wait a little longer until the release.

Sony has now confirmed that the originally planned start date of September 3, 2021 will not be met. Instead, “Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City” will only be shown on November 24th – around two and a half months later.

Sony itself did not give a specific reason for the postponement, the usually well-informed trade magazine Variety but suspects that the studio would like to avoid “Marvel’s Shang-Chi” and “Legend of the Ten Rings”, both of which are also due to start on September 3rd. In particular, the superhero competition from Marvel is said to be a thorn in the side of Sony, especially since cinemas in the USA are slowly returning to day-to-day business due to the pandemic.

The remake features Kaya Scodelario (“Maze Runner”) as Claire Redfield, Hannah John-Kamen (“Ant-Man and the Wasp”) as Jill Valentine, Robbie Amell (“Upload”) as Chris Redfield, Tom Hopper (“The Umbrella Academy “) as Albert Wesker, Avan Jogia (” Zombieland: Double Tap “) as Leon Kennedy, Lily Gao (” The Expanse “) as Ada Wong, Donal Logue (” Sons of Anarchy “) as Chief Brian Irons and Neal McDonough (“Yellowstone”) as William Birkin. The director is Johannes Roberts.
