In March 2019, Apple announced Apple News +, a new subscription service that allows users to access, from the Apple News app itself, exclusive content from publications, magazines, and newspapers.
For now, this service is only available in four English-speaking countries: the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia. It is one country less than Apple Fitness +, also accessible from New Zealand.
But the non-arrival of Apple News + in Europe has not so much to do with everything that involves the adaptation of the platform to Spanish than in terms of logistics, contracts and the like, but is due to the same intellectual property law that Google News prohibits.
When will Apple News + arrive in Europe and Latin America?
As we said, Apple announced the new press service in March 2019 and it wasn’t long before it could be used from the United States. Then he came to Canada, Australia and UK as well, and at some point he is expected to come to Europe as well.
However, we know that unless things change a lot, in Europe it will cost more to get it released. On the other hand, there is also no information on when it will arrive in Mexico and other Latin American countries.
Unfortunately, we believe that in Spanish speaking countries where there are no legal barriers, Apple will also take time to launch its service in Spanish, if it ever does.
This is why we should not be under any illusions about its premiere at the next WWDC and we believe that the company will launch other subscription services like Apple Fitness +, also available only in English-speaking countries.
Why is Apple News + not available in Europe and Latin America?
There’s no official reason on Apple’s part that Apple News + hasn’t landed in Europe and Latin America yet. For his part, it is because at the moment he does not think it can be profitable.
In fact, it only reached countries that share the same language, English, and it’s much easier to expand if you don’t have to worry about adapting the platform to one language. different, as in this case it would be Spanish.
That same question of practicality that prevents Apple Fitness + from reaching Latin America would justify that it has not yet arrived in that region either. But in Europe there is one more reason.
It has mainly to do, as we have done, with intellectual property law. According to this, the recapitulation of articles from different media (which is done by Apple News and Google News) violates copyright.
How to subscribe to Apple News + in Europe and Latin America?
But what if you want to access Apple News + from your country, yes or yes? There is a little trick to do this, although it’s not as easy as going to the App Store and downloading the English version of the app.
First of all, you need to change the region of your iPhone or iPad and choose one of the four countries where it is available. This will also change the App Store version to that for that region, although it’s likely you’ll need bank details from there.
This same tip should help you access the Apple One version of these countries, for now more complete than Spanish and Mexican. In these four countries, Apple News + is part of the bundle alongside Apple Music, Apple TV +, Arcade, iCloud and Fitness +.
