Soon after Sony announced plans to shut down the PlayStation Store service PS3, Vita and PSP, The company has changed its attitude towards the proposal to close the store and will now keep it open.

“Recently, we notified players that the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PS Vita devices is scheduled to end this summer,” wrote Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

“However, after further thinking, it is clear that we have made the wrong decision here. Therefore, today I am happy to say that we will keep the PS3 and PS Vita devices operating in the PlayStation Store.”

This is good news for those who are eager to play old games with old hardware. However, there is a warning: “The PSP business function will be deactivated as planned on July 2, 2021,” Ryan said. However, you can still buy PSP games through the Vita store.

Why did you suddenly change your mind? Well, it seems that the vocal nature of online PlayStation players is related to the company’s decision to abandon the game.

“When we initially decided to end the purchase of support for PS3 and PS Vita, it was born out of a variety of factors, including the challenges of commercial support for older devices and our ability to focus more resources on newer devices. Most of our gamers are playing games.” Ryan said. “We see now that many of you are very keen to be able to continue to buy classic games on PS3 and PS Vita for the foreseeable future, so I am very happy that we can find a solution to continue operations.”

Before the launch of PS5, Sony launched a reorganized PlayStation store and announced that the new version will only list PS4 and PS5 games-whether the company still intends to completely abandon support for the older generation at some point is still a mystery, but at least For now, some of Sony’s legacy will remain the same.
