Like the PC, the Xbox Series X supports | S now AMD FidelityFX tools. This is what AMD announced tonight during the lively conference during Microsoft Game Stack Live. And if this opens the door to new development tools, Nvidia’s response to DLSS on the latest Xboxes will have to wait a little longer!
More tools to make the work of developers easier
Game Stack Live is a developer-oriented event. A number of conferences are held there that allow the exchange of experiences or novelties related to creation. Last night, AMD was able to take the floor and the arrival of FidelityFX on Xbox Series X | Announce S.
FidelityFX is a comprehensive toolkit of technical solutions for developers. This makes it possible to meet various requirements related to the creation of games and to facilitate their implementation. Ambient occlusion, shadows or even dynamic resolution: the advantages are not lacking and around forty games already use them on the PC.
Today we are very excited to announce that AMD FidelityFX is now available on Xbox! This news makes it even easier to design cross-platform games because developers can access certain AMD FidelityFX effects with certain tweaks for Windows and Xbox. Game developers can now use AMD FidelityFX for additional platform-specific optimizations directly from the Xbox Series X | Use the S Game Development Kit.
AMD’s DLSS on Xbox will wait a little longer
This new set of tools is therefore now available to all developers. To take advantage of this, all you need to do is update the console development kit to access AMD FidelityFX.
Although AMD makes sure that the Xbox Series X | S fully supports the various FidelityFX solutions, not everything is immediately available. AMD has indeed promised to add the FidelityFX Super Resolution as soon as possible, which will be missing at the time of resolution. The latter is particularly expected as AMD is responding to Nvidia’s DLSS technology.
