Capcom has announced a new demo for its upcoming video game Resident Evil Village, but it’s a bit confusing how, when, and on what platforms you can actually download and play this demo.
This hour-long demo will be available on the same platforms as the game itself (PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Steam, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S), but only for 24 hours.
PlayStation gamers have the option to play the demo earlier, but only during two very specific 8 hour periods which depend on where you live. The second of these periods takes place this very weekend.
Confuses? Don’t worry, we’ll explain it to you.
What is the Resident Evil Village demo?
What you should expect is an hour of play in the village and castle sections. Unlike the first scripted demo exclusive for PlayStation, this access to the game seems much more open.
You can do whatever you want in each of them (or both at the same time), but you’ll have a limited time of 60 minutes in total, so choose wisely.
When will the Village demo be available?
In Europe, the demo will be available on each platform next time May 2 from 3:00 p.m. (mainland time). In North America, it will be presented the day before, May 1, while in Asia, it will be a day later, May 3.
This one hour game section will be available completely free of charge in the store of the platform of your choice. But you can only play it for 24 hours, so don’t get lost if you want to access it.
How to play the Village demo earlier on PS4 and PS5
Those who own a Sony game console can start by playing the demo, but the conditions are even more complicated. Instead of having an hour of play in both sections, you only have half an hour in the village and castle section.
Unfortunately, if you haven’t done so last week, you won’t be able to play the Village Session anymore, but this weekend the Castle Demo will be available for an additional 8 hours: between 7:00 p.m. April 25 – 3: 12 am on April 26 in Europe.
Keep in mind that during those 8 hours you will only be able to play the demo for a maximum of 30 minutes, although you can do so again when the demo ends the following week. PS4 and PS5 players can start downloading the demo now.
The launch of the game Resident Evil Village it will finally be May 7th. You can check out other releases in our selection of upcoming game releases.
