Konami code

This is one of the most popular Easter eggs or tricks in the video game world that over time has been used in countless titles. Those most interested in exploring the history of the industry will know that the origin of the Konami code is the Famicom -NES in Japan- version of the arcade game Gradius, published April 25, 1986.

In fact, the secret code, which consists of 10 elements or steps, is a shortcut created by the developer Kazuhisha Hashimoto, one of those responsible for transferring the title to Famicom. He was not an expert player and Gradius resisted him too much, it was very difficult to overcome him to prove that the game was good in all its stages, so he created a code to give the player a great series of power-ups and benefit.

In the pause menu, you had to press: Up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B and A. The code remained in the final game and was discovered by some users, then used in a large number of Konami games and honored in other licenses.

To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the codeKonami posted a 33-minute music remix on YouTube, designed for relaxing and / or studying. The remix features relaxing versions of music from Gradius, Ganbare Goemon, Yie Ar Kung Fu, TwinBee and Salamander.

Kazuhisha Hashimoto, who worked at Konami between the 1980s and 1990s, died last year at the age of 61.
