Game news Tales of Arise will not have a multiplayer mode

Last Wednesday, Bandai Namco dated the release of Tales of Arise via a trailer that also illustrates the gameplay. In an interview with our colleagues from IGN, Yusuke Tomizawa (producer) spoke in more detail about the title.

Started in 1995 with Tales of Phantasia, the saga of Stories of is a big name in the JRPG. He brings with him real-time battles in colorful universes with a very mature story. If Tales of Arise is no exception to the rule, it contrasts with its predecessors nonetheless: It will not be possible to play it with more than one person. However, this functionality has been around since one of the saga’s first works with Tales of Destiny (1997 in Japan). At IGN, Yusuke Tomizawa (the producer) justifies this as follows:

This episode is truly a single player game with one person enjoying the dramatic storyline of the game. There are no plans to include a multiplayer mode. Even so, we focused on how the characters work together and how they work together in battle.

Another witness to the revival of the license: Tales of Arise will be released on September 10th, five years after the release of the last opus with Tales of Berseria in Japan. This is the longest period that has passed between the arrival of two titles. In addition, Tales of Arise will benefit from a new graphics engine: this is evidence of Bandai’s desire to give the series a modern complexion.

As a reminder, Tales of Arise is set in a solar system made up of two neighboring planets: Dahna and Rena. The people of Dahna have always worshiped their neighboring planet, Rena, and viewed it as a righteous and divine land. But for 300 years the people of Rena Dahna have ruled by plundering the planet of its resources and depriving its inhabitants of their dignity and freedom. Tales of Arise begins with Shionne and Alphen, two characters who were born in different worlds. Both have a deep desire to change the future of their people.

Tales of Arise will be released on September 10th on PC (Steam), PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The title will in fact be available in an optimized version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on the same day.
