2K Games has a new caretaker, Bioshock.
2K Games announces new studio today, its first project is new studio Bioshock game. The team is called Cloud Chamber, and although it is still in the early stages of development, it has already begun developing the next Bioshock game.
2K Games refers to Cloud Chamber as a "collection of storytellers," led by industry veteran Kelley Gilmore, the publisher's first female studio leader. Cloud Chamber will operate in two offices, one at 2K Games' headquarters in the Bay Area and the other in Montreal.
This is also 2K Games' first studio in Canada, and the company hopes this will be the start of a grand opening in Montreal.
"We created the Cloud Chamber to create an undiscovered world and its inner stories that drive the possibilities of video game media," Gilmore said.
"Our team believes in the diversity of the composition of the studio and the way of thinking, and the beauty and power of diversity. We are a group of experienced game producers, including many who are responsible for the main creation, development and long-term of Bioshock The infamous game producer and is proud to be part of the 2K family and steward of this iconic series. "
Beyond Bioshock: The Collection, which was re-released in 2016, the series has put the entire generation to rest. Bioshock: Infinite is its last original work, which was released back in 2013.
The two mainline Bioshock games were developed by Irrational Games (Bioshock 2 was developed by 2K Marin) and have since been renamed Ghost Story Games. Ghost Story, led by original creator Ken Levine, has yet to make a game. Levine does not appear to be involved in the new Bioshock project.
