Capcom's blue bomb Mega Man he may not be the most popular video game mascot these days, but he still has the perfect gig. In recent years we have seen the issue of Mega Man 11, many Mega Man collections and last year even got a new superhero show called Mega Man: Fully Charged.
With many classic Mega Man games being updated at the moment, such as delays Zero / ZX Heritage Collection, has fans wondering if there might be a new release released on Mega Man Fight Network series (also known in Japan as Rockman.EXE).
In an interview with Tokyo TV recently, the exact question was asked by Capcom developers Masakazu Eguchi and Kazuhiro Tsuchiya. Here's what they had to say (thanks for translating, Rockman Corner):
Tsucian: Each series has its own fans, and I've heard many voices asking for sequels. There is no rule "we will not make any more collections of this game". Still, we are proud Rockman ExE being high content back in the day, and shallow ideas are not the answer to positive comments. To make a sequel, we need ideas and careful preparation, age trends, and whether the market is ripe … We need all these things to be on our side completely
Eguchi: There were some parts that were needed due to the encounter, but as we were told that he was "predicting the future", the games fulfilled expectations. Overcoming those parts is no easy task. We must overcome our thinking as we meet our expectations. If such situations of certainty occur, then there may be opportunity
So, the good news is that it is at least open to the thought of other games in the Mega Man series. That doesn't mean that they will actually release a sequel just to satisfy the "most beloved" voices.
